Say hello to a fresher, more confident you with the transformative power of dermal fillers!

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

The longevity of dermal fillers can vary depending on factors such as the type of filler used, the area treated, and individual metabolism. Generally, hyaluronic acid-based fillers, which are among the most common types, can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Thicker fillers typically last longer than thinner ones, as they are more resistant to breaking down over time. However, individual results may vary, and maintenance treatments may be necessary to sustain desired results. It's essential to consult with your aesthetics practitioner to determine the most suitable filler and treatment plan for your specific needs and goals.

Aftercare

After getting dermal fillers, there are several aftercare tips that you should follow to ensure the best results and minimize the risk of complications:

  • Avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours after the treatment. After that, you can gently wash the area with soap and water
  • Apply an ice pack to the treated area to reduce swelling. Do not apply ice directly to the skin; wrap it in a cloth first
  • The first night of your treatment, sleep with your head elevated (propped up with an extra pillow) to help avoid/reduce swelling and ensure that the newly injected filler stays in place and does not migrate
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment, as it can increase swelling and bruising
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, which can help your skin look better and aid in the healing process
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it can increase the risk of swelling, bruising, and inflammation
  • Stay out of the sun and avoid intense heat (like saunas or hot yoga) until any swelling and redness have subsided. Always use sunscreen when going outside
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least 12 hours to prevent infection. Skip certain skincare products that might cause irritation, such as retinoids or glycolic acid, for a couple of days after the treatment
  • Do not have any other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks after your fillers
  • Eat Pineapple to reduce swelling
  • Apply Arnica gel this helps reduce any bruising - this can be purchased over the counter

*Follow specific advice given by your aesthetics practitioner, as they may have additional or tailored recommendations based on the specific type of filler used and your individual needs. If you notice any unusual symptoms such as excessive swelling, bruising, pain, or signs of an allergic reaction, contact your healthcare provider immediately. It's also important to schedule and attend any follow-up appointments as advised by your provider to ensure the best results from your dermal filler treatment.*
